My Technorati woe

"Dear God, please have the Technorati spider visit my site tomorrow. Amen."

If you have read my "Top 10 signs of blog addiction", you should know that I pray to God everyday for my Technorati rank to rise. The reason is simple. My blog has never got pinged by Technorati. Never Ever.

You can see my technorati rank in this URL:

http://technorati.com/blogs/http://makemoneyonblog.blogspot.com

I first noticed the problem about a month ago, after my blog got reviewed by the Ruminator. Although my blog got a review by another blogger, my blog still had zero blog links according to Technorati. I immediately did what most people will do: Use the Technorati ping service to ping Technorati. I ping Technorati at least 10 times a day, but Technorati ignores me.

Then, I brought my problem to the wisest man on the Internet, Google! I found a web site called, "Ping-o-Matic" that let me ping Technorati. Some people in online forums even claim that Ping-o-Matic had made special deal with Technorati, and sites that are pinged by Ping-o-Matic will got updated quickly. I use Ping-o-Matic to ping Technorati multiple times everyday, while I am using Technorati ping at the same time. Technorati still ignores me.

I check my blogger's configuration, and I have "Add your Blog to our listing" set to public. This should be fine, but my blog still never got pinged. I submit a support ticket to Technorati. I did get an answer from them, but my blog still hasn't got pinged.

One day, I came across Mike Scott's blog, "The Bit Bucket". I found out that Mike has the same problem as me! Indeed, his blog hasn't been pinged for 626 days. I leave a comment on his blog. Mike immediately let other readers know about my problem. One of his readers suggested us to post to the Technorati forums, which I did. The Technorati administrator told me to submit a support ticket, but I had already did that.

My blog still hasn't got pinged!

WHY ME?

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And thou shalt know thy name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee"

I opened a ticket with them too, I guess since they still haven't fixed your problem, then I shouldn't hold out any hope.

The funny thing is that the blogs that have links to my blog get updated, but they never follow them to crawl my blog. My friend Art set up 2 different blogs, and Technorati crawled them both right away, registered that they link to me, and then totally ignored me.

You know the code you have to put into your site so that Technorati will confirm your claim? I was thinking about putting it back in my blog, and see if they start crawling me again.

hmm... interesting, if I find anything on this I'll be sure to notify you

Have you entered their code to your blog?... It was a while ago I did that so forgive me if you don't need to, but if you have not added it yet it's definatly worth trying.

Well, I deleted my claim, then re-claimed my blog. Now the code which is used to claim the blog, as well as generate that Technorait "Search this blog" widget, is on my site. Since it makes the widget as well, I am not planning on removing it.

I did this on Saturday, shortly after the first comment I made, and still no luck.

Today, as far as Technorati is concerned, I am up to 632 days without an update.

Check it out.

Actually now I'm wondering if anyone can beat my record. Technorati thinks I haven't updated my blog in 633 days.

I was looking at the Technorati Forums, and was working on a post celebrating my 633rd Day without being crawled by them.

I found a forum post of other people complaining that they haven't been crawled either. I posted this, and intended to list all of their blogs and the amount of time since they were last crawled, and when I started looking the blogs up, I noticed that all of their problems had been fixed.

You should go over to Technorati, and post a reply to this forum post, and maybe they will fix all of us.

Spread the word, I bet if we have a whole lot of replies, they will hurry up and straighten it out.

Well, it worked! I posted to that forum post last night, and they fixed me by this morning.

My final count was 634 days.
